2013-2014 Junior Interclub – Saturdays

The following will be the dates for Junior Interclub in 2013/2014:

Junior Interclub (Ladder) Dates 2013/2014:
Oct 26, Nov 16, Nov 30, Dec 14 , Feb 1, May 24.
Location: W.P. Wagner High School, Saturday 1-3 pm

The junior ladder is open to every junior member of an EDBA club. This year junior interclub is running as a doubles ladder, where four or five players of similar skill level are assigned to one court, and will alternate partners to play one game with each partner to 21 (21-20 wins). Total cumulative points after all three or four games per round will determine the winner of each court, who will then move to a higher court for the next round, while losers of each court move down (as possible).

The cost of junior interclub is free for all affiliated EDBA club members. Feather shuttlecocks will be supplied for the first court (highest skill level).

2013-2014 Adult Interclub – Saturdays (Ladder)

The following will be the dates for Adult Interclub in 2013/2014:

Adult Interclub (Ladder) Dates 2013/2014: Nov 2, Nov 23, Dec 7, Mar 1, April 26

Location: W.P. Wagner High School, Saturday 1-3 pm

The adult interclub is open to every member of the EDBA. This year it is running as an adult doubles ladder, where five players of similar skill level are assigned to one court, and will alternate partners to play one game with each partner to 21 (21-20 wins). Total cumulative points after all four games per round will determine the winner of each court, who will then move to a higher court for the next round.

The cost of primary adult interclub is free as long as the player belongs to an affiliated EDBA club, including feather  birds supplied for the first one or two courts (highest skill level).

Due to the large turnout for adult interclub/ladder, club representatives are responsible for sending a list of 4 players prioritized with skill rankings by Friday, 9:00 PM the evening before interclub to acting interclub director Victor Fung (unclevictor@gmail.com). Club representatives are welcome to send lists with more than 4 players, but only the first 4 players on each club list can be guaranteed playing spots that Saturday.

Players that show up for adult interclub that are not the club list submitted by Friday 9:00 PM will be assigned to a waiting list, and will only play as space permits. Because of limited space, clubs are encouraged to send more advanced players to the Saturday adult interclub/ladder.

2013-2014 EDBA Junior Training and Interclub Competition

For the junior training program, registration must be in person starting at 12:30 PM Saturday, Oct 19th, at W.P. Wagner. Only the first 36 registrants (age 10 and older) will be allowed and will commence playing at 1:00 PM. It is a 6 week session, and ccst is $50 (payable to EDBA). Please give a warm welcome to Lionel Chong, our new head coach, who will be running the program, and introduce yourselves when you come to register your children.

Adult Interclub competition will start at 3:00 PM, and clubs are free to send one or many players (no limit as of yet) who will be competing individually in a doubles ladder (similar to Derrick and Glenora), five players to an assigned court alternating doubles partners until everyone partners once with everyone else in the same court. Players will be ranked in a ladder system, and will move up or down the ladder rankings as they win or lose their court. Clubs are free to send as many players as they want, but again, space will be limited to the first 35 that show. An important difference is that this year COURT 1 (composed of the highest-skilled players) WILL BE PLAYING WITH FEATHER SHUTTLECOCKS. There is no cost for adult interclub ladder to EDBA members. Next Saturday we’ll start up the Junior Interclub competition, which will alternate with the adult ladder bi-weekly.
